With two universities, plenty of bars, restaurants, shops, attractions and a whole redevelopment at the Waterfront in progress, Scotland's fourth largest city has a lot going for it. House-hunters looking to find a new home in Dundee will find the new-build housing market just as bustling at the city itself, with a great variety of properties currently on the market.

Located on the site of Dundee College's former Graham Street campus, St Michael's Grove is a Persimmon Homes development of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes. The ‘Leith' is a four-bedroom detached villa priced from £190,995 and features a formal lounge, open-plan kitchen and dining area, utility room, en suite to the master bedroom and a garage. Those looking for something a bit more compact should check out the ‘Portree' house type, which will set you back £124,995 and comprises a spacious lounge, kitchen, cloakroom, two bedrooms with the option of fitted wardrobes and a bathroom. A range of three-bedroom semi-detached and detached properties is also available at the scheme.

Glamis Gardens is a Dundas Homes development situated in the West End of the city, close to Ninewells Hospital. The former medical residences have been transformed into contemporary three-bedroom villas starting at £175,000. Downstairs, the properties feature an open-plan living/dining and kitchen area as well as a shower room, while the upper level comprises two double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, a single bedroom and a family bathroom. Some homes also have en suites to the master bedroom.

Just four properties remain on the market at Bett Homes' popular Sidlaw Fields development in the Baldragon area of the city. All of the available houses are detached four-bedroom family villas ranging from £227,500 to £280.000 in price. Benefits include formal lounges, open-plan kitchen/dining/family areas, study rooms, en-suite facilities, garages and decking areas. The scheme's location in the north of Dundee allows residents easy access to both the city centre and the surrounding countryside including the Sidlaw Hills, from which the development takes its name.

A collection of two- and three-bedroom apartments is available at City Quay, a Miller Homes development located on the bank of the River Tay. Prices here start at £126,000 for a modern apartment comprising an open-plan living room and kitchen, master bedroom with en suite shower room, second bedroom and a bathroom. The building is served by a lift to all floors and many flats on the upper floors benefit from balconies and striking views across the water to Fife.
