It has been a great year for British pride and 2012 will be fondly remembered for the pomp and ceremony of the Jubilee and the hugely successful Olympics and Paralympics. With those events fresh in mind, the interior design team behind Octagon’s St George’s Place town house show home have celebrated a remarkable year by creating a Vivienne Westwood themed British pride bedroom. Claire Grant of The L&C Company says: “We wanted to celebrate Britishness in this room with it being the Jubilee year and Vivienne Westwood is one of the icons of British design. We’ve picked materials that she is famous for using like herringbone and tartan and we have also used as many British products as possible in this room. It has been a talking point with many people that have viewed the show home.”

The town house is a four-bedroom property split on four floors. Decorated elegantly throughout by Claire, and her business partner Lucy Manchester, the property is tardis-like and has apparently endless rooms to explore. Entering through the front door into the reception area,  the ground floor offers a large drawing room and TV den. Going up to the first floor, there is the master bedroom, second bedroom and a study area. On the second floor are bedroom three and bedroom four. Each of the bedrooms have their own en suite – some with baths and some with walk in showers. Below the ground floor, the basement level is the main living area with an open plan kitchen, dining and family area, a separate WC, a store cupboard, utility room and a plant room. The kitchen opens out onto a spacious terrace area, which has classical arches with built in LED lights and stairs leading up to the spacious private garden.

Stylewise, the property is elegant throughout with a range of different themed rooms like the Vivienne Westwood creation. Another exmaple is the study on the first floor, in which Lucy and Claire have opted for a subtle animal print feel using a range of prints, a leopard print chair and a faux shagreen desk. Glass and mirrors are used throughout the property and, on the whole, the decor is neutral with subtle touches of opulence. Lucy says: "We have used furnishings and materials from all over the world and have sought hard to make sure the pieces chosen for this property are either unique or limited edition. The style at the moment isn't showy, it's more subtle, so we have a key fabric in each room which stands out and base the rest of the room around that. We've also incorporated subtle 1980s floral patterns throughout which are making a comeback."

St George’s Place is a luxury new development on the sought after street of Esher Park Avenue and in one of Surrey's most prestigious towns. Just minutes from Esher High Street, the townhouses and detached family houses are surrounded by trees to create a feeling of privacy. This initial release comprises four semi-detached townhouses and two detached family houses – the second phase, Wootton Place, will consist of seven properties and will be available from early 2013.

In two private cul-de-sacs with video controlled entry, each property in St George’s Place has a private landscaped garden, an integral garage and forecourt parking, Each property has underfloor heating throughout, elegant marble entrances and contemporary walnut and glass staircases. With one of the plots sold already, the others are expected to move quickly due to the central location, easy commute to London Paddington from Esher station and high specification of the properties. Prices at the development start at £2.75million.
