Scottish construction group Mactaggart & Mickel has reached the midway point in its campaign to raise funds for the housebuilding charity Habitat for Humanity. The company has so far raised £6,255 in its role as a ‘HOPE Builder', enough to build five quality homes in the developing world, with a target of funding ten such homes in total.
Ed Monaghan, chief executive of Mactaggart & Mickel Group said: "We are extremely proud to be associated with Habitat for Humanity in order to deliver safe homes to those who need them most. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our suppliers and subcontractors who have made donations to the campaign so far. The difference campaigns like Hope Builders makes to the lives of so many people can't be overstated. A home provides a place to study and look after a family. Thanks to the generosity of those who made donations we are in a position to help make that happen."
Habitat for Humanity works in 70 countries, including the UK, and is supported by a number of major housebuilders, suppliers and other industry organisations. Its aim is to provide decent, safe housing in areas of poverty.
The organisation will be raising more funds at its Hope Challenge event in July this year, an event that WhatHouse.co.uk and its sister publication Show House are proud to sponsor. This event is held in Derbyshire's Peak District and the participating teams must build their own shelter for two nights and complete other challenges, including a 13-mile trek.
