Affordable homes in Widnes
Planning officers have given Halton Housing Trust the green light to build 12 affordable homes in Widnes. The development will feature eight three-bedroom and four two-bedroom houses on a public car park on Lacey Street.
Affordable new homes in Bristol
Plans to build more than 100 new homes in Bristol, including a proportion of affordable homes, have been unveiled by Bristol City Council.
Councillor Anthony Negus said this "will go some way towards helping all those people in Bristol who are looking for a home."
New affordable homes in Peasedown
Housebuilder Edward Ware Homes plans to develop 94 new homes in Peasedown St John, which is Bath and North East Somerset's biggest village. The company said the proposal was still at an early stage but that people can expect the development to feature a number of different types of properties from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses, of which 35% would be affordable.
Affordable homes in Northumberland
Two Castles Housing Association has started work on a £1.7m affordable housing development for local people in Bellingham, Northumberland. The development, due to be completed by May 2013, is being part-funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) with support from Northumberland County Council, and will deliver 13 new affordable homes for people who are in the greatest housing need with a connection to the village or local area.
Affordable new homes in London
Plans to create a new west London city with up to 12,000 homes, including thousands of affordable homes, have been unveiled by architect Terry Farrell. His vision for a 99-acre industrial site three miles from Oxford Circus will transform west London.

Housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and L&Q have been selected to develop 870 new homes on the 9.3 hectare Chobham Manor site as part of the first of five Olympic neighbourhoods in east London, which will include close to 300 affordable homes.
The overall scheme for the Olympic site - which will be renamed Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - is expected to create up to 11,000 new homes over the next two decades, of which more than a third will be affordable housing.
