As one of Warwickshire’s most desirable areas, Rugby and the surrounding area are often  considered too pricey for first-time buyers. However, Bloor Homes are offering FirstBuy on a new development in a village just outside the town. Young couple Danielle Cresswell, 20, and her boyfriend Gary Lang, 22, are delighted as they’ve snapped up a three-bedroom home at The Briars using the scheme.

Danielle says: “At the time we were living with my mum in Sherbourne near Warwick and really did not think we would be able to purchase a property.  We had considered renting but it is so expensive and such a waste of money.”

“A friend of ours then recommended that we take a look at The Briars as the FirstBuy incentive has proved a popular choice for young couples like us. We really didn’t think we would be able to afford it but decided we would go down to the site and have a look.”

The couple both work near Stratford upon Avon, Danielle as a supervisor, whilst Gary working nights as a security guard. She says:  “We thought it would be too far away but were pleasantly surprised as it took about half an hour to get there from Warwick.  After viewing the show home and discovering the benefits of the FirstBuy scheme, we were excited and moved quickly, putting down a small deposit to secure our home.”

Government backed FirstBuy scheme provides an equity loan of up to 20% of the property price meaning the purchaser only needs to arrange a mortgage for the remainder of the purchase price plus a 5% deposit.  To qualify, the household income must be less than £60,000 a year and the applicant must be unable to finance a property in the area where they currently live or work.  The scheme has been very popular at the development, and there is also 100% Part Exchange incentive available for those who already have a property to sell.

The Briars offers a choice of two-, three-, four- and five- bedroom homes and each property comes complete with led lighting in the kitchen and downlighters in the bathroom and en-suite. If purchasers make an early decision to buy, like Danielle and Gary, there is a choice of finishes to the house subject to the build stage.

Long Lawford village is surrounded by green open spaces and is located just a short distance from Rugby, famous for the game of rugby and its excellent schools. It offers easy access to the M6, M1 and M69 offering a network of road links, as well as the main A5 Watling Street making it central for commuting. There is a regular bus service providing an easy link to the shopping facilities in either Rugby or Coventry, whilst the main line station at Rugby can get you to London Euston within 50 minutes.

Prices at The Briars range from £164,950 for a three-bedroom house to £224,950 for a four-bedroom property.
