Housing association Viridian Housing has unveiled 20 apartments for over-55s in Kidbrooke, southeast London, at Halton Court. Available on a shared ownership basis, these two-bedroom properties have a contemporary design that fits in well with the Kidbrooke Village masterplan of which it is part. The properties are available from £162,500 based on a 50% share of a home with an open-market value of £325,000.

Halton Court comprises 170 apartments and the shared ownership properties enjoy a great specification that includes a fully fitted, stylish kitchen with appliances, double access wet/shower room with thermostatically controlled integrated shower, spacious rooms and private outdoor space in the form of a balcony or terrace.

Residents don't just benefit from an enviable property: they also have access to a subsidised waiter-service restaurant, residents' lounge, winter gardens, hair salon, spa bath, library, café-bar and 24-hour concierge service.

In all, the Kidbrooke Village scheme will transform a once-neglected part of southeast London into a new community with its own shops and businesses, a new transport hub, landscaped park and sports facilities, as well as over 4,800 new homes.

Halton Court is less than one mile from chic Blackheath and only 300 metres from Kidbrooke rail station and bus stand, from where you can reach Lewisham in six minutes and London Bridge in 15, in addition to numerous other local areas such as Greenwich and Woolwich.

Felicity Gentle, development sales and marketing manager of Viridian Housing says: "While retirees in the over-55 age bracket are not necessarily ready to settle into a retirement village, they are looking for security. We are currently working on a number of new developments to provide for those looking for an opportunity to secure a brand new apartment within a community that has all the facilities they need as they get older."
