The chancellor George Osborne this week announced plans to provide extra funds to build 15,000 more affordable homes in England by 2015 as part of a series of measures to kick-start the housing market.
New affordable homes in Milton Keynes
An affordable housing development, developed by the Hastoe Group, opened in Mursley this week, 14 years after plans were initially proposed for the scheme. The new properties consist of five homes for rent and three for shared ownership.
Affordable homes in Kent
The first phase of the Hyde Group's new flagship housing development at Rochester Riverside in Kent has been officially opened. The development will provide 73 new homes as well as a commercial unit.
Affordable new homes in Forest Dean
Kier Partnership Homes has started work on almost 100 much needed new and affordable homes at the former Ensor's abattoir site in Valley Road, Cinderford. Kier was also sected last year by the Forest of Dean District Council, Cinderford Town Council and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to build 92 environmentally sustainable homes on the site.
New affordable homes in Lancashire
Work has started on the construction of 14 new homes in the market town of Adlington in Chorley. Adactus Housing Association is developing five-bungalows, five-houses and four-flats across two sites at Acresfield. Chorley Community Housing will manage the properties once they have been completed.

Plans to create 100 additional affordable homes in Halton every year, some for rent and some for sale, have been unveiled, by Halton Council, as part of a draft housing strategy for 2013-2018.
