Ptarmigan Land has obtained planning consent for 1196 new homes to be built at the village of Hethersett, near Norwich, in line with South Norfolk Council's Local Development Framework plans.

Ptarmigan acted on behalf of a consortium of local landowners, who were represented by Bidwells and Brown & Co.

The Hethersett scheme, which will provide up to 33% affordable homes, extensive public open space, a new primary school, two local centres and other community facilities, as well as an extension to the nearby Park and Ride, delivers much needed housing in accordance with the Council's strategy.

"Achieving this planning permission has been a long process involving a great deal of consultation with local residents and stakeholders", says Hugo Kirby, Managing Director of Ptarmigan Land. "We worked closely with South Norfolk Council, Norfolk County Council and the Highways Agency and through teamwork and negotiation we arrived at a workable solution."

An extensive programme of public consultation was undertaken with the final scheme's design incorporating many of the ideas and concerns voiced throughout this process. Building is anticipated to start within the next twelve months with completion expected by 2025.

John Thompson & Partners were the Architects and Masterplanners for the scheme and says Marcus Adams from the Firm: "We are delighted to have been involved on this scheme alongside Ptarmigan Land. Integrating this new and exciting neighbourhood into the landscape and the existing village was key to the project."
