The first release of new homes has gone on sale at the multi-million pound development of Dargavel Village, Bishopton in Renfrewshire. Two new sales information centres have been opened by housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes.

Sales got off to an impressive start with eight new homes sold within the first few hours. Heading the Taylor Wimpey queue were Alison Pollok and Adam Goodall of Bishopton, who camped out to claim their new Taylor Wimpey home. Alison says: "We're excited about buying a new family home but were apprehensive about sleeping overnight. The temperature was -1° and then got down to -8° with the wind chill. We have already picked our plot and are delighted not to have to compromise."

First buyer for Persimmon Homes was Julie Dempsey of Erskine, who says: "This is the third time that I've bought a brand new home, but I last moved 14 years ago. I need more room for the kids and I will be moving back home to Bishopton."

Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey, have launched a wide choice of three-, four- and five-bedroom family homes. A further release of 89 four- and five-bedroom detached family properties from CALA Homes is coming soon.

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland's development in Dargavel Village will provide 147 new homes with a range of three-, four- and five-bedroom houses in a variety of styles and sizes. Prices start from £170,000 for the three-bedroom semi-detached ‘Balfour', rising to £290,000 for the four-bedroom detached ‘Stewart'.

Persimmon Homes and its luxury homes brand Charles Church Developments will offer 146 family homes with a choice of three-, four- and five-bedroom houses, with prices for Persimmon Homes starting from £147,995 for a three-bedroom ‘Nairn' terraced home, rising to £249,995 for a four-bedroom detached property. Charles Church will offer four- and five-bedroom detached homes from £279,995.

Dargavel Village is in an easily accessed rural location and the individual housebuilders' developments contained within it will benefit from interesting street scenes and detailed landscaping. Specific zones of tree-planting around ‘character areas' will be reflected at key points across the wider development, as the Dargavel master plan unfolds.

Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland says: "Taylor Wimpey is delighted to offer some of the first new homes for sale at Dargavel Village, Bishopton. It's been encouraging to see such a positive reaction to the opening of our sales area and to be part of one of Scotland's biggest development projects."

Taylor Wimpey is offering buyers a range of incentives such as part exchange, shared equity and the recently launched MI New Home scheme, that offers up to 95% mortgages, will be available on selected plots.

Ingrid Gahagan, sales director for Persimmon Homes West Scotland, says: "[Dargavel Village] is a strategic and significant development for the west of Scotland, and it's exciting for Persimmon Homes to be one of the lead developers."

Liana Canavan, sales and marketing director for CALA Homes (West) adds: "We are delighted to be involved in a development of this scale and our development of 89 four- and five-bedroom homes is coming soon."
