Banbury-based housebuilder Lagan Homes is offering first-time buyers and home movers the chance to purchase a home with a deposit of as little as 5% of the purchase price, thanks to its involvement with the government-backed NewBuy mortgage indemnity scheme.
NewBuy was introduced in the spring of 2012 to assist creditworthy would-be homebuyers by offering 90-95% mortgages, as a response to the high deposit requirements of many mortgage lenders. These were preventing many house-hunters who could afford to pay a monthly mortgage but who couldn't save or acquire a down payment of 20% or more.
More than 2,000 homebuyers across England have been helped to purchase with NewBuy to date. The scheme is only available on new-build homes priced up to £500,000 with participating housebuilders. Lagan Homes has been signed up to the scheme for several months and is offering it at four developments in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire.
Ivel Road, Shefford, Bedfordshire is a collection of 59 two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes in the market town of Shefford, with prices starting at £147,500.
