Councillors have awarded outline planning consent for the construction of 37 new homes in Blackburn on the site of a burnt-out textile mill in the city after approving the design of the new properties.
The councillors insisted on seeing how the new homes for Moorgate Mill will look before agreeing to give the scheme the go-ahead.
According to the plans, the development, which will provide much needed housing in the local area, will feature 20 flats for disabled and vulnerable people and 17 family houses, with the design of the new homes will complimenting the surrounding area - a condition of the borough planning and highways committee.
Elsewhere in the Lancashire town, Taylor Wimpey is currently building a selection of new homes at The Orchard on Laburnum Road, BB1.
The Orchard, located a short distance from Blackburn town centre, is a charming new homes development of one- and two-bedroom coach houses and three-, four-, five- and six-bedroom townhouses with two new three- and four-bedroom show homes now available to view. Prices start from £49,995.
The NewBuy scheme which allows homebuyers to buy a new home with just 5% deposit is open to first time buyers and existing homeowners looking to acquire a home in The Orchard.
