The city of Cambridge is getting set for the construction of a brand new 92-home tower that will become the tallest residential development in its history. At nine-storeys high, some of the views from the apartments and penthouses of The Marque will extend across Cambridge, and the company behind the development believe it is set to become an iconic building.

Toby Greenhow from Savills Cambridge, the agents marketing the scheme, says: "Cambridge has become a real draw for top quality new development and the specification of what is now on offer just gets better and better. The Marque is a stunning scheme where larger than average apartments have been designed to appeal to owner occupiers and high-end tenants. Coupled with the luxurious communal areas, its gym facilities and concierge service, The Marque is destined to be a landmark address in the city."

The Marque, which is built to an award-winning design, will provide 92 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments set around private, landscaped courtyard gardens. Crowning the scheme is a penthouse stretching to over 2,600 sq ft on three floors. Many of the homes will have a private terrace or balcony and the scheme will also provide secure underground parking, bicycle storage, a residents-only gym and 24-hour concierge. Prices start at £250,000 for a one-bedroom apartment.

Almaren have opted for a very high interior specification, with quality kitchens and worktops, Siemens appliances and Porcelanosa tiling, with underfloor heating to the bathroom. Open-plan layouts add to the contemporary-living feel of each home and early-bird buyers will have a number of options to personalise their home.

The development is expected to interest owner-occupiers and investors. Savills forecasts that property prices are set to increase in Cambridge by up to 26% over the next five years, and rental incomes to rise by 5% a year. In addition to proximity to Cambridge's own academic and commercial centre, The Marque is only minutes away from the city's station, which offers services to destinations such as Peterborough, Stansted and London.
