A planning application for the construction of 65 affordable homes on the outskirts of Redruth is expected to be submitted by Sanctuary Housing within the next few days. If approved, the developer will aim to complete the scheme by the end of 2014.

Garages on housing estates in Hollingdean, Hangleton and Portslade have been bulldozed to make space for 29 affordable homes, as part of Brighton and Hove City Council's £100m housebuilding programme. Over 500 affordable homes are planned overall.
Affordable new homes in London
The Liberal Democrat deputy leader Simon Hughes has called on the developer of a major scheme in Southwark to withdraw its planning application because not enough "truly affordable" homes are proposed as part of the development. Mr Hughes, MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark has written to Simon Hipperson, Europe chief executive officer of the developer Lend Lease requesting that more affordable housing is delivered as part of the re-development of the Heygate Estate, which forms a key part of the £1.5bn plan to regenerate Elephant and Castle over 15 years.
New affordable homes in Cambridgeshire
Hundreds of affordable homes will be delivered as part of the first phase of the new town Northstowe in Cambridgeshire. Stage one of the town, located 10km north west of Cambridge, will comprise of up to 1,500 new homes, as well as a primary school, shops, leisure and office space. Building work on the project is scheduled to start next year.

Two Rivers Housing has been awarded planning consent to build nine new affordable homes for local people at Pylers Way in Lydney. The small scheme will include a mix of three and two-bedroom homes, some for rent and some for shared ownership.
Affordable new homes in St Albans
A new affordable housing development has been completed on a former mobile home site in St Albans. Brandon Mews in Hill End Lane features four three-bedroom shared ownership houses and three three-bedroom homes that will be rented out. An additional 15 one-bedroom and eight two-bedroom flats will be used as temporary accommodation for people moving on from hostels.
