A planning application has been lodged with Exeter City Council for the construction of 450 new homes at Sandy Park Farm in Exeter, where activity in the housing market is hotting up.

According to the plans for the proposed scheme, the development would have a mixture of two- and three-storey housing, including 158 affordable homes.

Aside from the delivery of new homes, developers are also proposing the construction of a new mini roundabout by Sandy Park to help control traffic levels, as well as a cycle and pedestrian underpass. Residents at the new scheme will also benefit from a soon-to-be-built Newcourt railway station, which will link the new development to the Rydons.

The developers are also intending to provide a ‘high quality green space' next to Newcourt Station.

Meanwhile, a separate application for the construction of a further 73 homes has also been submitted to the council by Strongvox Homes.

The development, to the east of Sainsbury's car park, would be a mixture of two-storey homes with three-storey apartment blocks, and would be made up of five one-bedroom apartments, 33 two-bedroom apartments, 14 two-bedroom houses and 21 three-bedroom houses.
