A couple who have bagged extra space and four bedrooms in their new home at a Barratt development in Worcester might be able to raise their own family sooner rather than later - thanks to the government's Help to Buy purchase assistance scheme.

With their plans to start a family, Matthew Gross, 35, and his wife Debi, 44, admit that the extra space in their new four-bedroom property at Perry Wood Oaks could come in very handy in the not-too-distant future. And, having saved money by purchasing the property through Help to Buy, the couple managed to free up some extra cash to purchase a several items from the Barratt 'Choices' range - such as integrated appliances, a double oven, a dishwasher and special lighting - features that they otherwise might not have been able to afford.

The Help to Buy scheme is available on new or existing properties up to the value of £600,000, and is open to all house buyers, not just first time buyers. The scheme aims to make it easier to secure a property with a smaller deposit than would usually be required. Buyers only need to save up 5% of the property's asking price and secure a 75% mortgage - with the remaining 20% covered by a Government-funded equity loan, which is interest-free for five years.

"Debi and I are overjoyed at moving into our wonderful new home at Perry Wood Oaks," says Matthew. "We are closer to work, closer to relatives and hopefully, with the extra room available to us, we might be able to raise our own family sooner rather than later."

Situated in the Ronkswood suburb of Worcester, Perry Wood Oaks is made up of 129 new homes, with a selection of three- and four-bedroom properties currently available, priced from £210,995 to £292,950. Ideally located for commuters, the development is situated close to the city centre and the University of Worcester, while Junction 6 or 7 of the M5 give easy access to other destinations in the West Midlands and further afield.

Tanya Silk, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said; "We're so pleased that Mr and Mrs Gross have chosen Perry Wood Oaks as the place to start their own family. It's a testament to the quality of the homes we are building and the community we are creating that people see this as a place where they would like to raise their children.

"Matthew and Debi, like many of our buyers, have used Help to Buy, so we'd encourage anyone interested in buying a new home with the aid of Help to Buy to visit our sales centre and speak to our friendly and knowledgeable sales advisers."
