At the project starts to take shape, Barratt Homes has recently unveiled two show homes at Ladywell Park in Wellingborough, which is transforming an old quarry site into a scheme of 200 new homes in the historic Northamptonshire market town.

The current phase of two- and three-bedroom homes for sale at the development are priced from £133,000 and £145,500 respectively, a mix of coach houses, terraced and semi-detached homes that make a good first property or a step up from a current home. The professionally designed interiors of the show homes will help prospective buyers to imagine their own furniture in place in one of these brand new properties.

The location of the new development is excellent, as it has easy access to local shops and schools and is only 100 metres from Wellingborough rail station, which has direct services to London taking around 55 minutes.

The old site will be unrecognisable once Barratt Homes has finished its work, as it has removed and recycled material from old industrial buildings to prepare it for the construction of the new development.

Senior land manager at Barratt Homes, Ben Thorington says: "It took around three months for a dedicated team of demolition experts to remove all the old industrial buildings and using the latest sustainability techniques, we were able to maximise the amount of materials we could recycle. We were able to re-use a lot of the steel and concrete - most of which has been crushed and used to form new roads at the development."

The housebuilder did, however, take considerable steps to preserve and accommodate wildlife that had made the site a home. Thorington adds: "Whilst preparing the industrial buildings for demolition, we found evidence of a small number of pipistrelle and brown long eared bats so installed bat boxes in a number of trees. We worked very closely with the council to ensure the old quarry land is completely safe and this part now forms a tranquil pond for the enjoyment of local residents."

For more details of the scheme, call the Barratt Homes team on 0845 388 4860 or pop in to the development in person. Ladywell Park is open 11.00am to 6.00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 11.00am to 7.00pm Thursday; 10.00am to 5.00pm Saturday; and noon to 6.00pm Sunday.
