Midlothian’s choice of new-build homes will impress house-hunters in Scotland

Its proximity and established transport links to Edinburgh city centre combined with idyllic countryside make Midlothian a scenic yet convenient place to settle. If you're looking to find a new home in Midlothian you won't be disappointed by the choice of new-build homes available. The area has everything from cosy apartments to spacious family villas and everything in between.

Situated in the village of Bilston, Taylor Wimpey's Cameron Gardens development offers a wide choice of two-, three-, four- and five bedroom properties. For example, the ‘Geddes 2' house type is a detached four-bedroom property priced from £267,000 and features lounge, dining room, breakfasting kitchen, two en suites and an integral garage.

Hopefield View is a Stewart Milne Homes development boasting a collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments alongside three-, four-, five- and six-bedroom semi-detached and detached properties. Prices at the Bonnyrigg site start from £110,950 for the ‘Carrick' apartment comprising a living room, kitchen, bedroom with fitted wardrobes, bathroom and ample storage. At the more expensive end of the scale, the ‘Melton' house type will set you back £349,000 and comes with a formal lounge, dining room, kitchen with family breakfasting area, en suites to two of the five bedrooms, an IT area and a double garage.

Barratt Homes has recently released a phase of properties at its Eskbank development in Dalkeith. Located on the River Esk, the scheme includes a choice of three- and four-bedroom family homes including the ‘Craigievar' house type. This four-bedroom detached property costs £289,995 and features a formal lounge, open-plan kitchen and dining area, utility room, downstairs WC, an en suite to the master bedroom, a family bathroom and a garage.

A collection of two- and three- bedroom terrace and semi-detached properties is offered at Cruden Homes'Wester Lea development in the village of Newtongrange. Currently available homes include the ‘Marfield', a semi-detached villa priced at £172,500 and boasting a living room, kitchen with dining area, cloakroom, master bedroom with en suite, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The property also features a driveway to the front and French doors leading from the kitchen to the rear garden.

There is something to suit everyone at Persimmon Homes' Dewar Park development in Gorebridge. Properties currently on the market at the site include two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom terraced houses, three-bedroom semi-detached homes and three-, four- and five-bedroom detached villas with prices ranging from £107,950 to £249,950. The scheme is part of a wider development that is creating a new community with residential homes as well as local shops and eventually a new primary school.
