From the vibrant buzz of Inverness to the tranquillity of rural villages and isolated crofts, there is something to suit everyone looking for a new home in the area.

Deveron Homes has an impressive collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments on the market at its Fairfields development in Inverness. A number of the properties are housed in a converted Victorian mansion with the rest situated in the landscaped grounds. Prices here start from £165,950 and benefits include period features such as bay windows, integrated appliances, en suites, curved baths, fitted wardrobes and ample parking. The development has been carefully designed to make the most of a high-end contemporary specification while retaining the historical charm of the mansion building.

Myrtletown Park in Culloden is a new development comprising a collection of terraced and detached family homes. Prices at the O'Brien Homes site start from £149,000 for the ‘Aston' house type, a mid-terrace home comprising living room, kitchen, downstairs cloakroom, two bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and a bathroom. The ‘Cranfield' is a three-bedroom bungalow priced from £239,000 and includes a living and dining area with doors to the rear garden, an en suite to the master bedroom and a garage.

A choice of three different home styles is currently available at Tulloch Homes' High Burnside development. Set in the picturesque village of Aviemore, the scheme offers four- and five-bedroom detached family villas starting from £338,500. Features include a family room, formal dining room, en suite facilities, studies and garages, depending on the house type chosen. Aviemore is situated within the Cairngorms National Park and is around 40 minutes away from Inverness. The nearby A9 allows commuters easy access to the city.

Work is currently underway on a new Barratt Homes development in the village of Resaurie. On completion, Pinefields is set to comprise 64 new two- and three-bedroom homes. One of the property types that will be available here is the ‘Ametrine' - a semi-detached house with an open-plan living/dining area, separate kitchen and two double bedrooms. Resaurie is only 17 miles from Inverness and the Inverness Retail and Business Park is nearby, making this an ideal location for commuters looking to live in a rural setting.
